Valene Smith : Stereopticon

The life of travel pioneer and retired anthropology professor Valene Smith is featured in a student-curated exhibition "From Chico to China" at the Valene L. Smith Museum of Anthropology on the Chico State campus.  The exhibition is based on her autobiography, Stereopticon.  In her long life of travel she has visited the caves of Lascaux in France, taught college students in Pakistan, led tours around the world, had her own travel agency in Chico, and continues to travel and inspire others. 

Nancy Wiegman has a master's degree in French linguistics from Indiana University and taught yoga and foreign languages at CSU Fresno and the College of Charleston before moving to Chico in 1990.
