The Siskiyou Arts Museum invites everyone to the first art opening and reception for 2019. Join us on Saturday, February 9th from 5 to 7pm. This will be an exciting evening, showcasing the work of five artists in two different art exhibits. Both exhibits will continue through March 2nd. The theme of the exhibit in our main gallery is “Illuminated,” and includes artwork by three women who live in Mt. Shasta. Mystical paintings by Jessica Bowman and Laura Krusemark represent various aspects of the “Divine Feminine,” while Tracy Jacobs' exotic, whimsical cast resin sculptures that incorporate light and movement explore spirituality as experienced through nature and scientific inquiry. In our smaller gallery – the Museum Space – you’ll find another multi-media exhibit by two artists entitled, “Duologue.” Christos Spontylides, who resides in Etna, will present highly symbolic imagery that borrows from aspects of his Greek cultural heritage to offer stories about the human condition. Lake Shastina’s Ron Richards describes himself as a social commentary artist working primarily on women’s equality, political and environmental issues. The Siskiyou Arts Museum is a member & volunteer supported non-profit art gallery and gift shop, located in the heart of the downtown Dunsmuir Historic District at 5824 Dunsmuir Ave. For more information, visit us on the web, follow us on Facebook, stop in or call 530-235-4711 during business hours: Wednesday – Saturday, from 11am to 4pm, and Sundays, Noon to 4pm.
