North State Congressional Races

Congressional District 1 represents Butte, Shasta, Tehama, Siskiyou, Plumas, Modoc and Sierra counties, and parts of Glenn, Nevada and Placer counties.

It’s going to be incumbent Republican Doug LaMalfa, who took 40 percent of the vote, and Democratic challenger Jim Reed, with 29 percent. Republican Joe Montes took third place with 17 percent.

Congressional District 2 consists of Trinity, Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte and Marin counties and parts of Sonoma County. Democratic incumbent Jared Huffman took about 69 percent of yesterday’s vote; his Republican challenger in November will be Dale Mensing, who finished in a distant second with 16 percent.

California’s third Congressional district covers Colusa, Yuba and Sutter counties, plus parts of Glenn, Lake, Sacramento and Yolo counties. Incumbent, Democrat John Garamendi won with 63 percent. He’ll face Republican Eugene Cleek in November. Cleek received 24 percent of the vote.
