Red Bluff Middle Schooler Makes False Bomb Claim

Claims that a bomb was planted at a middle school in Red Bluff Thursday turned out to be false.

According to a press release from the Red Bluff Police Department, Thursday morning a sixth-grader at Vista Preparatory Academy reportedly gave a letter to his teacher that said he had placed a bomb somewhere at the school.

The school resource officer was notified, followed by city and county law enforcement, the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigations, and city and state fire departments. Students and staff were evacuated around 2 p.m. and officials searched the campus. They found nothing.

The student who made the claim was arrested on the charge of false reporting of a bomb. He was transported to Tehama County Juvenile Hall.

No injuries were reported during incident. The release states there is currently no evidence to that there was ever an explosive device at the school.
