Redding Nonprofit In Need Of Blankets

As the weather begins to turn, Redding’s People of Progress, a nonprofit community resource, is in need of blankets and winter clothing. Director Melinda Brown says this is the first time she can remember supplies being so low.

"We've just started getting some rain and so people whether they have a roof over their head or they don't they need blankets, and we don't have any,” she said. “We need the community to be generous as they usually are and drop off some blankets."

Brown said the homeless aren’t the only people in need. Only about a quarter of her clients are homeless, while the rest are low-income people living paycheck to paycheck.

Donations may be dropped off at People of Progress on Center Street. Brown said new community maps highlighting locations of social services are available there as well.
