Take Caution As Snow Hits Lower Elevations, Butte County Public Works Says

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the northern Sacramento Valley region Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said the cities of Redding and Red Bluff may receive multiple inches of snow. In Butte County, Public Works Director Joshua Pack asked the public to stay off the road if possible.

“If you do need to drive, please drive slowly and safely. Please utilize all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive whenever possible,” Pack said. “And if you see a plow in action, please slow down. Please do not attempt to try and pass unless it is safe to do so.”

Pack said plows will focus on clearing main roads to keep them open for emergencies. Crews are also ready to respond to fallen trees and downed power lines.

The storm warning is in effect from 4 p.m. Tuesday to 10 a.m. Wednesday.
