Monitor Wildfires Burning Throughout The North State: Cow Fire Evacuations Lifted

Containment on the Cow Fire burning near Millville increased from 15 to 25% overnight.

This post will be updated with the latest fire information as it is made available. Here are the fires we’re following in the North State:

🔥 Cow Fire: Currently off of Highway 44 and South Cow Creek Road, Southeast of Millville. It caused a power outage to more than 300 people and the closure of South Cow Creek Road late Sunday afternoon. According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, evacuations have been lifted and South Cow Creek Road has reopened for residents only.

According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the fire was 600 acres and 25% contained as of 7 a.m.

🔥 Portola Fire: As of 6:30 p.m. Friday, mandatory evacuation orders are still in place for a fire burning in Portola in Plumas County. Evacuations are in place for the east end of Portola from Ellen Avenue east to Rocky Point Road, according to the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office.

At 7:39 p.m. Friday The California Highway Patrol reported on Facebook that State Route 70 is back open to one-way traffic between Meadow Way and Beckwith. The CHP initially closed State Route 70 between Grizzly Road and Meadow Way around 4:30 p.m. An evacuation point is set up at 171 South Gulling Street in Portola.

🔥 Park Fire: As of 5:50 p.m. Friday, The City of Chico Fire Department is reporting on Twitter that the fire is 402 acres and 50% contained. According to Cal Fire, the fire has burned out of Bidwell Park and is now in the county area.

The spread was stopped around 2 a.m. Currently, all trails in Upper Park are closed and no vehicle access is allowed past Bidwell Park Golf Course. Officials are asking the public to please keep away from this area as Cal Fire Butte County continues to wrap up containment.

The Chico Police Department reported on Twitter at 11 p.m. that there are no evacuation orders for residents in Chico, including in the Canyon Oaks and California Park neighborhoods.

🔥 Dairy Fire: in South Red Bluff is 20% contained at approximately 150 acres as of 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Fire has transitioned command to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service however CAL FIRE resources remain committed to the incident.

🔥 Rock Fire: Off Benson Dr and Rock Creek Rd, east of Whiskeytown in Shasta county is 108 acres and 85% contained as of 8 a.m. Thursday.
