Arrest In Siskiyou Cold Case

Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office

Authorities have arrested a 22 year old Yreka man in connection with the body of a man found in April.

Shane Timothy McDonald is being held in the Siskiyou County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond after his arrest Tuesday night, according to a press release from the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office.

McDonald is facing murder charges related to the death of Spencer Hodgson, whose remains were found in a ravine off Yreka-Walker Road April 8th.

The 31-year-old Hodgson, a long time Santa Cruz resident with ties to southern Oregon had moved to Klamath River. An autopsy cited gunshot wounds as the cause of death.

Hodgson’s dog was found alive and turned over to relatives. His pickup truck was also located.

Although the county’s inter-agency marijuana team was involved in the investigation, Sheriff Jon Lopey said that there is no known link between the murder and illicit drug activity at this time.
