Dave is joined by Blue Dot's expert on all things seismological, Ken Hudnut from the United States Geological Survey in Pasadena as they interview the host and creator of The Big One podcast from KPCC (also in Pasadena!).

Jacob Margolis narrates The Big One, which starts with an audio simulation of what happens to a Los Angeles resident when a magnitude 8 earthquake strikes while he is at work downtown, miles from his home and family in the San Fernando Valley.

Along the way, the podcast turns to scientific and emergency response experts to educate listeners about what is surely to come in the near future and how to prepare for it. And the lessons apply beyond Southern California to the Bay Area and Pacific Northwest which both anticipate similar events in the not too distant future.
