Building Resiliency Center Opening Monday

Long promised and long delayed, the Paradise Building Resiliency Center is set to open Monday.

Dreamed up as a way to reduce frustration and expedite reconstruction, the new “one-stop-shop,” is meant to have all the information, stipulations and regulations under a single roof.

Paradise spokeswoman Colette Curtis said the initiative is about rebuilding, and has a single goal.

“To really make that process as easy as possible.” Curtis said.

The facility’s opening was repeatedly postponed after discovery of mold issues in the former Bank of America branch that the company donated.

Officials are very clear that the center is a lot more than a new home for the town’s building department.

Curtis said official housing advocates will be on hand, helping shepherd those hoping to reconstruct through aspects from financing to permits to planning.

“These are experts and they can really help that process for someone who has never done anything like build a house before.” Curtis explained.

Butte County will also have building officials there, giving those with property in unincorporated areas an option other than trekking into Oroville.

Additionally, representatives from the Paradise Irrigation District, Pacific Gas & Electric Company and the Butte County Fire Safe Council will have a presence, along with some insurance-related resources.

The Building Resiliency Center is located at 6295 Skyway and will be open from 8 to 5 weekdays beginning Monday.
