Fire Burning Off Iron Mountain Road Near Redding

Updated 9:00 a.m.

Cal Fire says the Mountain Fire, which broke out Tuesday afternoon near Keswick in Shasta County, is now 80 percent contained.

Original story:

The forward spread has been stopped on a Shasta County fire that so far has burned about 35 acres and is reported to be 50 percent contained.

The so-called Mountain Fire was first reported just after noon today along Iron Mountain Road near the town of Keswick.

The CHP is reporting that a hard road closure that was in effect from Keswick Dam Road to Highway 299 has been shortened.

Iron Mountain Road is now closed between Sanders Road and Keswick Dam Road. All residences in that closure area have been evacuated, although there have been no structures reported to be lost.

A Red Cross evacuation center is open at Shasta High School.

Additional current fire incident information can be found on Cal Fire's website.
