Hwy 70 Closed In Plumas County Due To Slide

Caltrans
Caltrans workers were out in the dead of night clearing a slide off of Hwy 70 near the Greenville Wye. Officials initially expected to reopen the road at noon Monday, but concerns about the integrity of surrounding rock has prompted a geologic assessment.

Caltrans is reporting that State Route 70 is closed in Plumas County between Big Bend Road and the Greenville Wye due to a rock and mudslide near Rich Bar around 2 a.m. Monday. A geological assessment of the integrity of the canyon wall has been ordered. It may be two or three days before the highway can be reopened. No detours are available.

Additionally, chain controls are in place along Highway 36 in the Sierra in various places between Mineral and Susanville

Highway 3 is closed from 20 miles north of Trinity Center to 3 miles south of Callahan in Siskiyou County.

Big-rigs are being screened for chains on I-5 at Fawndale Road, about 10 miles north of Redding. Trucks without adequate chains will be turned back.
