Our Redding transmitter is offline due to an internet outage at our Shasta Bally site. This outage also impacts our Burney and Dunsmuir translators. We are working with our provider to find a solution. We appreciate your patience during this outage.

KCHO Chico 91.7 FM At Full Power Again

North State Public Radio is back to full power at 91.7 FM KCHO Chico. Listeners between Yuba City and Redding should notice improved reception. The KCHO transmitter is located in Cohasset and serves as the central hub of NSPR’s broadcast network in the North State.

The station has been broadcasting at reduced strength on a back-up transmitter since April, when the Cohasset location’s 35-year-old transmitter overheated and failed. This week, engineer James Moore completed installation of a recently purchased, solid-state Nautel transmitter.

NSPR is still working to replace the 88.9 FM KFPR Redding transmitter, which was destroyed in the Carr Fire on July 27. Unfortunately, we do not have an estimate for when it will be operational but we are working to find a solution as quickly as we can. As always, listeners can hear NSPR streaming online at mynspr.org.

We apologize for any inconveniences and thank our listeners for their patience and support in these trying times.

Phil Wilke

NSPR General Manager
