Local Schools Make 'Gold Ribbon' List

Nine North State elementary schools were among 772 primary schools across California recognized as “Gold Ribbon Schools” Wednesday by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson.

About 6,000 schools were eligible to apply for the designation, which recognizes programs, activities, projects, strategies, and practices that can be replicated by other schools.

“These schools shine as bright beacons for others, putting forth an exemplary effort to ensure that every student is ready for 21st century college and careers,” Torlakson said.

Local schools recognized with the award:

·         Sierra View Elementary — Chico Unified School District, Chico, Butte County.

·         Lake Elementary — Lake Elementary School District, Orland, Glenn County.

·         Luther Elementary — Live Oak Unified School District, Live Oak, Sutter County.

·         Marcum-Illinois Elementary — Marcum-Illinois Elementary School District, Sutter County.

·         Pleasant Grove School — Pleasant Grove Joint Union School District, Sutter County.

·         April Lane Elementary School — Yuba City Unified School District, Sutter County.

·         Bridge Street Elementary School — Yuba City Unified School District, Sutter County.

·         King Avenue Elementary School — Yuba City Unified School District, Sutter County.

·         Riverbend School — Yuba City Unified School District, Sutter County.
