Missing Teen Hiker Found Dead In Feather River

The body of a 19-year-old Magalia resident who had been missing for two weeks has been found in the West Branch of the Feather River.

According to the Paradise Post, Butte County officials said the body of Tristian Lucero was found in the river below Feather River Hospital by search and rescue crews at 11:25 Monday morning.

Lucero had been missing since Easter Sunday. He’d gone on a hike with a friend along the flumes of the West Branch where he reportedly became too tired to continue, prompting the friend to leave Lucero to go search for help.

Lucero had just recently moved to Magalia from Vacaville. He is said to have contacted friends and family via cellphone while he was alone on the flumes, but he was unable to give sufficient information about his location before his cell phone battery is thought to have lost charge.

Authorities have approximated Lucero’s time of death to match that of the time he went missing. No foul play is alleged.
