More bad news for PG&E customers. Another disruption could start tomorrow.

“We expect a potential public safety power shutoff to impact up to 209,000 customers across the 15 counties.” PG&E spokeswoman Mayra Tostado said.

The number of actualpeople impacted would be about three times that figure, as each customer covers a full household.

The word comes after Californians that weathered a voluntary blackout beginning on the 9th have likely re-stocked their refrigerators.

North State areas where the utility is considering cutting power are all or parts of Butte, Lake, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sierra, Sutter and Yuba County.

Though dry north winds will blow all week, both the National Weather Service and PG&E say they’ll be strongest from Wednesday evening through midday Thursday. Once again, foothills areas are considered most at risk.

Tostado said PG&E expects to restore power within 24 to 48 after the winds subside, but she said

“If there is significant damage, it could take a little longer to restore power, so we ask customers to prepare for an additional two to five days after the weather has subsided.” Tostado said.

PG&E is asking customers to prepare and has resources and literature on its website.
