Redding, Yuba & Oroville City Councils To Discuss Parks, Sewage, City Manager Contract Extension

Recreation, open space and transient camps will likely top concerns at the Redding City Council meeting Tuesday evening as officials hear from the public while they update long-range plans for parks.

According to a report prepared for the council, Redding residents are underserved by current parks and some neighborhoods have a shortage of recreational facilities.

The report calls for expansions of the city’s recreational trail system, more and larger neighborhood parks, and new sources of money for both land acquisition and maintenance.

The council is also expected to sign off on nearly $325,000 in emergency repairs to a water filtration plant damaged by the Carr Fire.

Meanwhile, in Yuba City, the council will hold hearings to raise rates within special landscape and lighting districts. The council is also expected to approve the sale of $26 million in bonds to fund upgrades to Yuba City’s sewage treatment infrastructure, as well as the purchase of seven new police department vehicles at a cost of $271,000.

Finally, the Oroville City Council is expected to extend the contractof Tom Lando as city manager. Lando was a longtime city manager in Chico.

There is no council meeting scheduled Tuesday for the City of Chico.
