Back in the gold rush area, a fifty-four pound gold nugget was found in a small community on the ridge. It was named after the town where it was found and is known as the Dogtown Nugget. At the time, the discovery made headlines across the nation. And the Town of Paradise has been celebrating it for years.
The annual tradition is known as Gold Nugget Days. But many wondered if the event would happen this year due to the Camp Fire. The answer was yes. It was held Saturday and was the first major event in Paradise this year. NSPR’s Nicole Camarda was there and has more from residents who traveled to be at the celebration.
