Shasta County To See Fewer COVID-19 Restrictions

Travel Pulse

State health officials announced Tuesday that five California counties will move from the state’s most restrictive purple tier to the red tier under the state’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy.

The purple tier indicates the virus is widespread while the red tier indicates spread is substantial.

Shasta is included among the five counties that will see fewer restrictions due to declining cases. The other California counties are Marin, San Mateo, Humboldt and Yolo. Under the red tier, restaurants, fitness facilities, museums and movie theaters can operate indoors with limited capacity.

Bars that do not serve food are still closed. The changes will go into effect in Shasta County on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Trinity County will see more restrictions due to an increase in cases. Trinity was previously in the orange tier, indicating moderate spread. It will now move back into the red tier.
