Shingletown Man Arraigned In Connection With Death Of Missing Woman

A 48-year-old Shingletown man was arraigned yesterday in connection with the discovery of the remains of a missing woman near Battle Creek Reservoir a week ago.

Authorities say the body was badly burned and found in a rock crevice inside Lassen National Forest. A forest fire had swept through the area, but authorities believe a homicide occurred.

Frank Alexander Berry was taken into custody Saturday.

Though the body hasn’t been positively identified, Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko’s office released a statement tying Berry to the dead woman, saying the two had recently dated.

Authorities said Berry was armed, wearing a fake moustache and had colored his eyebrows with a magic marker when he was arrested. Officials believe he was trying to disguise his identity.
