Update at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the #CampFire area in Butte County, as well for areas burned in the Carr Fire in Shasta County.  Properties impacted by both wildfires, and downstream of those areas, are at risk for flash flooding, mudflows and debris flows during periods of intense rainfall.

Those traveling or in the areas along Interstate 5 and Highway 299 in the western portion of Shasta County, and along portions of Highway 70 and the Skyway in Butte County should be alert for possible road problems due to flooding, rock, and debris flows.

Moderate to heavy rain is forecasted over the fire area into Saturday.

The Camp Fire has burned more than 153,000 acres and is 80 percent contained. 16,000 structures have been destroyed. 5,000 are still threatened.  Two more human remains were found yesterday bringing the current death toll of the Camp Fire to 81 and there are 870 people listed as missing. More than 18,000 homes, businesses and other structures have been destroyed.

Cal Fire officials will hold a press briefing tonight at 6 from the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. Technology permitting, NSPR will carry the broadcast live.

Currently the Glenn County Fairgrounds and Butte County Fairgrounds are the two county-coordinated evacuation shelters that are still open. We have a list of resources for evacuees and more on how to help on our website.

Several areas had their evacuation orders or warnings modified. Residents returning home need to be aware that the evacuation areas being lifted have very limited services. To see a current list of evacuation statuses, click here

According to a press release last night from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, two more human remains were found yesterday bringing the current death toll of the Camp Fire to 81. Both remains were located in structures in Paradise.

The release also said the number of unaccounted for individuals decreased yesterday by 171 after detectives were able to work through a back log of voicemails. The missing persons list now stands at 870 names.
