In this episode, Dave visits with Terri Randall and Avner Tavori, the two filmmakers responsible for the new PBS/NOVA documentary, Saving The Dead Sea. It's one of the saltiest bodies of water on the planet and the lowest elevation on the land surface of the Earth.
It is imperiled by water diversions for a water thirsty region with Israel on the west and Jordan on the east. The film covers an audacious engineering plan to pipe water from the nearby Red Sea, desalinate it and pipe the brine water into the Dead Sea.
Will it work? Scientists, engineers and activists are interviewed in the film which features stunning cinematography of one of the most striking locales on the planet.
