When Rory Rottschalk learned that there wasn't a program for citizens to help students with their reading, he decided to create one. Reading Pals aims to get every student in Chico reading at grade level by 7th grade, and it does so by connecting interested citizens for an hour a week with students who could use a little extra help. Rottschalk says one of the deepest joys of being a human is achieved when we submit part of our freedom in service of another.
