Nancy's Bookshelf: Michelle Ott & Anthony Peyton Porter

Artist Michelle Ott grew up in Minnesota and holds a Master of Fine Arts for UC Berkely. A team member at The Bookstore in Chico, Calif., she is also the artist and resident at the Gateway Science Museum.

Ott creates Illustrations and handcut photographs that focus on the observations of our physical and social world. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally.

In her effort to recover encounters with strangers, which the COVID-19 pandemic has denied us, she has contacted the current occupants of her previous residences and created an illustrative collection of her past residences which she calls “Current Occupant.”

Also, former Chico News & Review columnist Anthony Peyton Porter reads his essay “Appreciation” and refers to the state (where Michelle Ott grew up) as “Minnesnowta”.
