Chico State Academic Senate mulls resolution linked to professor’s sex case

Chico State’s Academic Senate voted 34-1 Wednesday to request California State University trustees to conduct an independent investigation of campus leadership’s handling of a case in which a professor was found to have had a prohibited sexual affair with a graduate student, according to reporting by EdSource in collaboration with the Chico Enterprise-Record. Another Academic Senate meeting is scheduled today, when a resolution calling for an independent investigation may be voted upon, according to an email to staff Thursday from Staff Council.

Public health officials see uptick in flu activity

Flu cases are on the rise in Butte County and other parts of the North State. According to the latest data on flu activity from the California Department of Public Health, the entire North State as well as most of California is experiencing high levels of the flu.

California air board outlines approach to climate action

The California Air Resources Board adopted a plan mapping out the state’s approach to climate action over the next 20 years. The plan outlines California’s goals for reducing emissions and accomplishing carbon neutrality by 2045.

State reparations task force targets negative stereotypes

The state task force studying reparations for Black residents with enslaved ancestors is meeting this week in Oakland. One item on the agenda is discussing how reparations might help overcome negative stereotypes about Black families.
