Butte County Board of Supervisors advances loan proposal for Honey Run Covered Bridge

The Butte County Board of Supervisors last week narrowly approved moving forward with a proposal to loan the Honey Run Covered Bridge Association $2.5 million to complete the rebuild of the Honey Run Covered Bridge. The iconic bridge in Butte Creek Canyon was destroyed in the 2018 Camp Fire.

Winter storm warning in place for northern Sacramento Valley

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the northern Sacramento Valley through noon Friday due to high winds and low-elevation snow. Another system coming from western Canada arrives early next week with more mountain snow.

Tesla to base engineering headquarters in Silicon Valley

Gov. Gavin Newsom and Tesla CEO Elon Musk made a joint announcement Wednesday that Tesla's global engineering headquarters will be based in Palo Alto. Newsom noted California is “able to lay claim now to 44 manufacturing headquarter companies in the electric vehicle space, but none that dominate like Tesla.”

Progressive California Democrats vie for US Senate seat

Bay Area Congresswoman Barbara Lee has officially jumped into the contest to fill the U.S. Senate seat from California that is now held by Dianne Feinstein, who has announced she will retire at the end of her term. Lee joins Reps. Adam Schiff and Katie Porter as candidates in the race.
