Two new trustees sworn into Chico Unified School Board | Lake Shasta levels high after wet winter storms | Chico nonprofit brings in the new year with a celebration and fundraiser for Haiti

The latest North State and California news on our airwaves for Thursday, Dec. 19.

In today’s episode:

Chico Unified School District swore in two new board members at its meeting last night. Longtime educators Teisha Hase and Gayle Olsen both supported the Butte County school repair bond, also known as Measure C, and highlighted the rights of LGBTQ+ students during their campaigns.

Also, Shasta Lake levels are nearly 18 feet higher than they were in mid-November after a series of winter storms. According to the Redding Record Searchlight, the reservoir is at 113% of the historic average and is about two-thirds full.

Plus, the Chico non-profit “Sharing Blessings to Others” is hosting a fundraiser that will showcase Haiti's rich culture, and the Tuscan Water District Board meeting yesterday was followed by an hour-long workshop during which members of the community gave their input.
