Today, we’re continuing to follow the story about how and when California’s stay at home order might be lifted. Many in the North State want that to happen now, but the state says not yet. We’ll hear from Assemblyman James Gallagher, who recently sent a letter to the Governor asking that local rural authorities be given the power to ease restrictions. We’ll also hear from Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis about why the state hasn’t said yes to that request and check in on where the state is with testing.

Today, we’ll hear from the President and CEO of the Redding Chamber of Commerce about how businesses in that part of the North State are feeling about Governor Gavin Newsom's timeline for re-opening.  We’ll also hear from PG&E spokesperson Paul Moreno about a series of interactive webinars holding to prepare the public for wildfire season. Yes, pandemic or not, we will be seeing Public Safety Power Shutoffs and we’ll get some answers to questions about filing for unemployment as we head into week 6 of California’s stay at home order.

Today, we’ll head to Chico where organized nurses and healthcare workers held a candlelight vigil Wednesday evening to demand protections when treating COVID-19 patients. We’ll hear from a history professor about past pandemics and what we might be able to learn from them. Also, we visit Paradise where Kim Weir and a rapping raccoon remind us that a good way to use this time of isolation is to prepare your home for fire season.

We’ll also hear from Robin Bacior, a musician originally from the North State and now living in Portland, who just released a new song and heartwarming video on Earth Day about the curiosity and need to reconnect with life’s simplicities, something we’re all having to consider as we stay at home during this pandemic.

We’ll hear from the owner of an in-home care service that works with seniors about what challenges this pandemic has created there. We’ll also hear from a Chico State professor who just got off of a 28 deployment with the state’s disaster medical response team after working at a patient overflow facility in the Bay Area.

He’ll ask questions like: How long can the virus live on surfaces? Is 6 feet enough to stay safe when social distancing? And do we know if this virus is seasonal? We’ll also hear from NSPR’s Up The Road Host Kim Weir about a delivery service dropping off groceries for your pets.
