The Shasta Serenade Tribute Show

Apr 1, 2017

Today we’ve put together a special show to honor the memory of Barry Hazle, who passed away last week. Barry first began contributing to NSPR as a volunteer in the late 90s, and began hosting The Shasta Serenade in 2010. For the next two hours we’ll explore Barry’s story, have a conversation with his wife Maline Hazle, and feature some of Barry’s all-time favorite music.

On behalf of all of us here at NSPR, we are so grateful for the years of dedication and creative effort Barry provided for our listeners. Thank you, Barry. We’ll see you at the music.

This is the last Rock-a-Barry Weekend show folks – I’m now retired from the Shasta Serenade and The Rock-a-Barry Weekend Shows. Hope you enjoy the show crammed full of old rock n roll, R&B, country and pop music form the 40‘s into the 70’s. it has been a great deal of fun sharing my passion for Americana music over these many years. Remember, go out and see live music – it’s good for your health, and the health of the musicians too J. You can always see me at the Oaksong Society for the Preservation of Way Cool Music concerts in Redding, or the many other concerts and music festivals I attend each year. Until then, stay safe, and I’ll see you at the music.

We’ll be playing songs from Johnny Mathis, Brenda Lee, Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters, Johnny Cash, Elvis, and Bobby Helms. New music from Jimmy Buffett (seems he’s missing his two front teeth), Marty Stuart laments that even Santa gets the blues, and Chuck Brodsky got nothing on Christmas.
