Public Art Production On Chico State's Newest Hall Begins

Chico State’s new arts and humanities building will be home to a public art exhibition, and the community is invited to take part.

Taylor II will replace the demolished Taylor Hall, and construction is set to conclude sometime in 2016. It will feature the piece, called “Facewall,” on its exterior facing Normal Avenue. New York-based design team Walczak and Heiss started work on the project Saturday Morning.

Volunteers pose for photos that capture their silhouettes. The finished project will use more than 1,000 of those silhouettes, mounted on steel totems lining the wall.

The shoots continue on the Chico State campus today in Colusa Hall room 100A until 5:00 p.m. and in the Wildcat Leadership Center in the Bell Memorial Union until 9:00 p.m. Tomorrow — the last day for photos — both rooms will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

If you’d like to be a part of the piece, you can make an appointment online at facewall.me
