Butte Task Force Investigates, Busts Honey Oil Labs

The Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force has actively been investigating manufacturing labs of a potent type of concentrated marijuana called butane honey oil, according to a press release from the Chico Police Department sent out this weekend.

According to the release, the agency made their latest honey oil bust last Tuesday when they served a search warrant on 23-year-old Chico State student Gary Dufault at his home on Victorian Park Drive in Chico.

The release reports that upon serving the warrant the agency found Dufault in possession of about 2 pounds of butane honey oil, 48 pounds of marijuana bud and shake, a small amount of suspected cocaine, and 12 firearms – including an AR-10, two AR-15s and two AK-47s.

More than 7,000 rounds of ammunition were also reportedly found in Dufault’s possession, as well as butane honey oil manufacturing equipment and other evidence supporting the illegal sale of drugs.

Dufault was arrested and charged for multiple violations including manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of firearms with narcotics, possession for sale of marijuana and possession of cocaine.

The release reports that so far in 2015 the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force has investigated 10 butane honey oil labs in the Chico area.

The release stated that manufacturing butane honey oil is both illegal and dangerous because honey oil labs can catch fire and explode.
