Man Sentenced For Pot Plant In Trinity Alps

Horacio Campos, a 26-year-old Mexican citizen, was sentenced to two years in federal prison and fined more than $9,200 after being caught tending an illegal marijuana plantation on federal land.

Prosecutors said about 10,000 plants and more than 800 pounds of processed cannabis were found at the site, in the Hobo Gulch area of the Trinity Alps Wilderness Area. The plantation was irrigated by water diverted from a stream. Fertilizer, pesticides and hundreds of pounds of trash were found at the site.
