State Health Department Launches Ad Attack On E-Cigs

TBEC Review

It’s been 25 years since the California Department of Public Health launched its first anti-smoking advertisements in the state. Starting this week it’s launching ads on a new enemy – electronic cigarettes.

The ads are part of an educational campaign launched in January. It’s called “Wake Up.” The idea behind it is that Californians need to “wake up” and see that e-cigarettes are highly addictive and a serious public health risk

The advertisements sort of compare e-cigarettes with their predecessors – cigarettes – as images of kids and adults exhaling billowing clouds of vapor flash across the screen.

CDPH says the ads will run through the summer. They’ll be on TV, websites, online radio, social media and on billboards at gas stations and in malls.
