As work continues on State Route 299 near Buckhorn summit, Caltrans will begin blasting operations next week to remove portions of rock.
These blasts will produce loud explosions and delays of 30 minutes or more. Caltrans has also announced that drivers will be asked to power down electronic devices when travelling in the area.
Buckhorn Summit is just on the Shasta side of the Shasta-Trinity county line.
There will be no detour available.
