'Mystery Machine' Driven In Redding Police Chase Now For Sale

The Mystery Machine is up for sale. An homage to the famed cartoon van made headlines after owner Sharon Turman led Redding police on a high-speed chase in March. Now its current owner wants to sell the vehicle and give some of the proceeds to charity. Elena Allen of Bernie’s Hauling in Anderson bought the Mystery Machine replica for $300 after hearing that it was set to be crushed.

She says after using the van for publicity for her business she plans to sell it to the highest bidder the first week of May. But she's already getting calls.

"One was from Redding, Anderson, and I just want somebody to appreciate it, you know what I mean,” she said. “And I don't want to sound like a bad person, but I want to make some money, and I want to donate some money to Haven Humane."

If you want to see the Mystery Machine before it goes on the auction block, it will be on display at Redding Kia during the Kool April Nites Cruise on April 22.
