Two North State Banks Robbed Monday

Two North State robberies Monday have attracted the attention of the FBI.

The first robbery happened yesterday a little after 1 p.m. at the Umpqua Bank in Weaverville. It’s unclear whether the suspect left on foot or in a car.

The second robbery happened around 5 p.m. Monday at the Tri Counties Bank in Durham. Again, one man robbed the bank, but this time the Butte County Sheriff’s Office says he left in a light-blue BMW getaway car driven by another man.

The robber in both cases is described as a white man wearing dark clothes, sunglasses and a beanie.

According to KRCR-TV, Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea said while it is unclear if the robberies are related, that possibility is the reason they contacted the FBI.
