Oroville Man Found Guilty Of Killing Neighbor's Pets

An Oroville man is facing up to five years in state prison after being convicted Monday of killing his neighbor’s pets.

It took a jury about an hour to reach a verdict, finding 29-year-old Michael Danny Scott guilty of two counts of animal abuse with the use of a deadly weapon.

According to Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey, neighbors in the unincorporated Thermalito area testified that six different cats were shot with a pellet gun. Three fatally. Additionally, Scott chased, shot, captured and killed a neighbor’s Jack Russell terrier. Scott is scheduled for sentencing Dec. 29.
