Captain Bill Schueller Set To Take Redding Police Chief Position

Captain Bill Schueller, who has spent a quarter century with the Redding Police Department was recommended for the department’s top job yesterday by City Manager Barry Tippin.  

The city council will take up the potential promotion Aug. 20. Schueller would replace Chief of Police Roger Moore, who is retiring Oct. 4th.  

Schueller has risen through the ranks from patrol officer to captain. He has worked on both the traffic enforcement, and investigations details, including major crimes, tech fraud and the gang unit. 

Most recently, he’s managed efforts to modernize record keeping and computer software.  

Tippin said Schueller was selected from among 15 finalists of a national search.
