Criminal proceedings resume in deadly Oroville bus shooting case
Court records show a Butte County judge found shooting suspect Asaahdi Coleman, 22, is competent to stand trial. Coleman is accused of shooting five people on a Greyhound bus that stopped in Oroville Feb. 2. A Seattle woman, Karin Dalton, 43, was killed, and four other people were wounded. Coleman is facing murder, attempted murder and weapons charges.

Interview: Organization dedicated to serving homeless youth gets new house in Chico
Chico’s 6th Street Center for Youth says it will soon have another housing location for homeless teens and young adults. The group says it was just granted a master lease for a house in Chico, which will allow it to manage the building with funding from Butte County Behavioral Health.

Inflation Reduction Act could bring in billions for drought relief in California
Later this week the House of Representatives will take up the sweeping legislation Democrats passed on Sunday known as the Inflation Reduction Act. The bill is aimed at reducing carbon emissions, lowering prescription drug prices and revising the tax code. It could also bring billions of dollars in drought relief to the state.

University of California admits record number of in-state students
A record number of first-year applicants from within California — more than 84,000 — have been admitted to UC campuses this fall. That's according to preliminary information released by the UC system.
