Shingletown Fire Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

One person was killed and two children injured early Tuesday morning when a quick-moving blaze tore through a home near Shingletown.

Authorities have not released the identity of the person who perished. An 8-year-old girl was taken by helicopter to UC Davis Medical Center with second-degree burns. A 5-year-old girl was treated locally.

It took firefighters nearly an hour to bring the blaze under control. The home was located at the Darrah Springs State Fish Hatcher, and was occupied by a state employee. The fire was initially reported at shortly before 2 Tuesday morning. Its cause remains under investigation.
