Sake has moved into where the former IHOP used to be. It offers a wide variety of sushi and other Japanese dishes for a fixed price.

Sushi chef Lin Min Chao said customers should expect an experience filled with an array of flavors to satisfy their sushi craving.

“We serve fresh sushi every day. It's simple, customer orders and the chef makes it right away,” Chao said. “All food is coming out is fresh, the fish is fresh, and the rice is good quality.”

The Sake experience

When entering the restaurant, guests are greeted by Japanese-style art as they await being seated by the hostess, who will present them with their menu once they are seated.

Drinks are ordered first, followed by the first choice of dishes. Servers will continually drop by the table to see if guests are ready to order more.

Plates are picked up continuously so that the sushi keeps flowing.

“I personally love the gyoza and the katsu chicken, and they were on top of serving us the drinks,” patron Bradon Borrelli said. “Overall, it was a really nice experience.”

Save more money, eat more sushi

While buffets and sushi are not uncommon in Chico, Sake stands out with its unique proposition — you can enjoy a sushi feast at a pocket-friendly price, akin to the value you get at a Costco bulk rate.

For sushi enthusiasts, the experience allows customers to try a wide selection of rolls without breaking the bank.

Lunch service runs from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, for the price of $22.99 per person. Dinner service begins at 3:30 p.m. for a price of $35.99 per person. But be forewarned, customers have an hour and a half to finish their meals or any leftover food will be charged at an a la carte price.
