Update: Man Confesses To Double Murder In Hayfork, Victims Identified

Trinity County authorities have identified 41-year-old James Jachna and 21-year-old Amanda Patton, both of Hayfork, as victims of a double homicide that occured Monday.

According to the sheriff’s office, 40-year-old Jason Brady confessed to the killings while being interrogated by detectives Tuesday.

The bodies of two victims were found in a home on Carter Gulch Road. Brady is being held pending the filing of charges.

Authorities declined to discuss a possible motive in the case.

Brady is originally from Escondido.

According to Facebook, Jachna had helped organize a 21st birthday celebration for Patton at the Hayfork Hotel in February, and it appears the two were dating. Patton worked as a teacher’s aide at Hayfork High School.
