More than eight million tons of debris has to come down from the ridge before rebuilding can start in Paradise, Magalia and Concow. The debate over where to put that waste is ongoing. But we now know who will be overseeing the process.

It's a company out of Pasadena called Tetra Tech, and it just received the biggest-ever single award for wildfire cleanup from Cal Recycles, which was tasked by the governor's office to deal with the fire debris.

But as reported in today’s San Francisco Chronicle, this company is currently being sued by the US Department Of Justice for falsifying soil tests at a Bay Area Superfund site. Cal Recycles issued a statement expressing continued confidence in the contractor.
