Forms For North Complex Fire Debris Removal Due Dec. 15

Noah Berger

Clean-up after the North Complex Fire has proceeded to Phase II – the removal of burned buildings and larger debris.

Anna Loughman , the removal coordinator for Butte County, says she’s getting a lot of questions about the process.

For example, can property owners sell their property before it has been cleared?  The answer is yes.“If you are in the middle of selling your property or you’re selling your property soon after submitting your paperwork, you can still do that,”  Loughman said. “There’s a form; you can call us at our call center and we can send you that form. It is an affidavit that gets signed where you’re saying that you are transferring the property to somebody else. Everybody signs it and the program still continues to go, the property will still get cleaned”

Loughman says residents can also specify that some items be left in place or request to be on the property when government contractors remove debris.

Property owners should include those notes on their right of entry form, which must be filed before any debris is removed.

The deadline to file that form is Dec. 15.
