Shiites Prevail in Iraqi Elections, But Lack Majority
Final results of the Iraqi national election are released, two weeks after the vote. As expected, the Shiite-led coalition, tacitly endorsed by Ayatollah al-Sistani, came away with the biggest bloc, at 47 percent. A Kurdish alliance came in second, with 25 percent of the vote. Turnout in Sunni Muslim areas was lower than U.S. officials had predicted. NPR's Emily Harris reports from Baghdad.

Judge Won't Move Abu Ghraib Trials Outside Iraq
A U.S. military judge in Baghdad rejects pre-trial motions requesting that the trials of two American soldiers accused of abusing Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib be held outside Iraq. Judge Col. James Pohl also denies defense requests for memos by Bush administration lawyers on the use of interrogation tactics. Butte County DA says surveillance cameras critical to identifying arson suspects | Prescribed burns can lessen chance of extreme wildfire in Chico | Paradise looks to reduce electricity rates
Arson arrests have been on the rise over the last decade due to better investigations aided by surveillance cameras. Also, the Butte Prescribed Burn Association is working to prevent catastrophic wildfires in the county. They treated 200 acres with fire last year, and Paradise residents might have the option to choose a cheaper energy provider soon.
