Butte County Superintendent of Schools Tim Taylor on Friday announced the closure of all public schools – including district and charter schools – in Butte County through Friday, Nov. 23, due to the Camp Fire.

He said schools, families and communities are experiencing extreme loss due to the fire and its impact, and time is needed to help understand the extent of loss and disruption and develop ways to safely resume providing services to schools and students.

Chico State is also suspending classes. Students will be out at Chico State until Monday, Nov. 26.

On Friday night, Chico State President Gayle Hutchinson sat down in Kendall Hall on campus to address the University’s response to the Camp Fire and its plans on how to proceed in the coming weeks.
