A fire in Tehama County grew to 170 acres before being contained yesterday. The Black Fire started just north of Black Butte Lake.
The much larger Washington Fire continues to burn in Alpine County. Fire crews are mopping up the perimeter. It's sized at 17,790 acres — close to 28 square miles.
A number of small lightning-caused fires have dotted Modoc and Plumas national forests over the past few days.
