The California Community College system Monday rolled out a redesigned “virtual campus" website as part of its online education initiative.
The website is a catalog of more than 19,000 online courses and programs.
New features make it easier for students to find online courses they need to earn certificates and degrees or transfer to four-year schools.
The website is a part of the statewide Online Education Initiative. Steve Klein is the program director.
"We're creating opportunities and pathways for students to move through the college system more quickly than before," he said.
Klein says 60 percent of California community colleges offer certificates and degrees that can be earned without students going to a college campus for classes. Nearly 94 percent of those classes are offered online.
