Window Smashed On Van With Clinton Sticker In Tehama County

While fears of voter intimidation and irregularities remain just that, today’s election has ramped up political disagreements and has prompted more than the petty theft of candidate lawn signs.

A Capay resident reported finding the rear window of their van shattered this morning, an action the vehicle’s owner linked to an unknown person’s displeasure with a Hillary Clinton bumper sticker.

The incident was reported to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle’s owner said they felt that their “sense of space was violated.” The damage was estimated to cost about $300. The van was parked on private property about 50 feet from the nearest road.

The van’s owner said the sticker wouldn’t have been visible to passing traffic, especially at night, and surmises that whoever broke out the window, spotted them elsewhere and followed them home.

The van’s owner said they aren’t particularly surprised as other motorists have made obscene gestures or shouted obscenities on four separate occasions over the last seven months.
