About 50 people gathered at Chico City Plaza to protest the fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, in downtown Chico.

Protests will be held throughout the North State Saturday in response to this week's killing of U.S. citizen Renee Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer in Minneapolis.

The demonstrations follow another protest in Chico earlier this week, and are part of a nationwide campaign called “Ice Out For Good.”

Organizers say the Minneapolis incident reflects broader concerns about violence and abuse by federal immigration enforcement agencies.

Videos of the shooting have circulated on social media and have sparked widespread outrage from critics of President Donald Trump’s controversial immigration policies.

Trump and the Homeland Security Department have said the ICE officer shot Good in self-defense.
